Who We Are
ASV Farms is a family-owned grower, packer and exporter of premium table grapes, with operations rooted in the Hex River Valley and extended across key production regions in South Africa.
From early beginnings, the business has grown into a large-scale agricultural operation supplying international markets with consistency and reliability. Today, ASV Farms combines generational knowledge with modern farming practices to deliver high-quality fruit across every season.

A History of Growth and Expansion
ASV Farms’ story began in the late 1960s, when challenging drought conditions in the northern Hex River Valley pushed Anton Viljoen to seek new opportunities. In 1969, he acquired a farm further south in the valley, drawn by its strong water supply and development potential. Despite early setbacks, including severe hail damage, the operation steadily expanded, reaching 100,000 cartons by 1976.
Over the following decades, strategic acquisitions in the Hex River Valley strengthened the core of the business, while expansion into the Berg River region during the 1980s allowed for further growth and diversification. Recognising the value of early-season production, the business extended operations to the Orange River region in the 1990s, developing large-scale farming units in challenging environments to secure market advantage.
This multi-regional approach became a defining strength, enabling extended harvest windows, improved supply consistency, and greater resilience across seasons.
Today, ASV Farms consists of 15 farming units across the Orange River, Berg River, and Hex River regions, forming a large-scale, integrated table grape operation. The business continues to build on decades of experience, innovation, and a commitment to long-term growth.
Anton Viljoen Snr. was recognised as Western Cape Farmer of the Year in 2003, a reflection of both his vision and the legacy he established.
